eva1nsss, also known as Nuòzi, is captivated by the endless possibilities within bass music. From her early days drifting through club spaces to her current explorations, she treats low frequencies as a foundation—layering them with playful drums, scattered voices, and unpredictable sonic fragments. The result is a soundscape that is immersive, experimental, and ever-evolving.

What’s your perspective on
Shanghai’s club culture and
the underground music vibe?
Club culture in Shanghai is diverse and open. DJs can play whatever they love, and there’s always a crowd that resonates with it. At the same time, people go out depending on their mood - get wild or just chill, and there’s always a lineup that fits the vibe. I really appreciate the people in this scene who keep making music, hosting nights, and pushing the culture - it’s their energy that keeps it alive.
What are your thoughts
on the DJ profession and the
industry so far?
Being a DJ means finding the balance: you’ve got to read the lineup and the vibe of the night, stay tuned into the dancefloor, and still bring your own identity to it. For me, that’s tricky, partly because I’m a perfectionist and a bit stubborn. I want every set to share the music I love perfectly, which sometimes means I forget to think about what the crowd want. So prepping a set can be a long and stressful process.
That said, a lot of experienced DJs handle this balance really well. They’re super generous with advice and support, which has helped me a lot. Most people working in this scene are friendly - that’s a big part of why I keep going.

Why dubstep?
Right after university, I was back home in Guangxi and got into reggae and the Jamaican soundsystem culture. I still remember my first real soundsystem experience at KAYA REGGAE BAR in Guilin - the bass hitting you in a way that just takes over the body. That moment stuck with me and got me hooked on exploring bass music.
What fascinates me is how versatile bass can be. Even though the foundation is always low-end, it can carry so many different moods and rhythms. That’s what keeps me digging deeper and seeing what’s possible with this sound.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not DJing?
Stay with my cat, or drinking with friends - complaining about life and scouting weekend spots (yep, still the gang’s club captain). Btw I’ve been getting in some workouts too, trying to act like a healthy adult :)
Any word you’d like to give to DJs and professionals working hard in the Asian scene?
Stay true to
your sound, your scene, and yourself - that’s where the joy comes from.
